Abstract

A patient (female, 18 years of age) was treated at the Endodontics Clinic of the Autonomous University of Baja California, Tijuana, for absence of the right maxillary central incisor. X-rays showed an apical third root fracture of the left maxillary central incisor. Planned treatment was enucleation of the apical third and root canal of the cervical and middle third. However, the apical third was found to be stagnant during the surgical procedure, and it was decided not to remove it. The middle and cervical thirds were treated as planned. The tooth has remained asymptomatic up to 5 years after intervention.
